Sprinkler Valve Won’t Shut Off: How to Stop a Running Zone

A zone that continues running after the controller is off usually points toward the valve itself rather than the watering schedule.

Stop the water if necessary

If the zone is flooding the property, shut off the irrigation water supply if you can do so safely.

Check for a manually opened valve

A solenoid or bleed screw that was opened for manual operation may have been left in that position.

Internal valve problems

Debris, a damaged diaphragm, or worn internal parts can prevent the valve from sealing completely.
