Sprinkler System Won’t Shut Off: Controller vs. Valve Troubleshooting

The quickest diagnostic question is whether turning the controller to OFF stops the water.

If the water stops

Review controller programming, manual-run settings, and multiple start times.

If the water keeps running

A mechanically stuck valve, debris, diaphragm issue, or manually opened solenoid becomes more likely.

Protect the property

If water is causing flooding, shut off the irrigation supply if you can do so safely and arrange repair.
