Smart Sprinkler Controllers: When an Upgrade Makes Sense

A smart controller can make an irrigation system easier to manage, but it cannot repair a broken valve, underground leak, damaged wire, or poorly adjusted sprinkler head. The best upgrades start with a mechanically healthy system.

What smart controllers can add

  • Phone-based scheduling and manual operation
  • Weather-aware watering adjustments
  • Seasonal scheduling tools
  • Notifications and easier program changes

Check compatibility first

Before replacing a controller, confirm the number of zones, power requirements, sensor wiring, master-valve or pump requirements, and condition of the existing field wiring.

Do not use technology to mask a repair problem

If a zone has low pressure or will not operate, solve that problem before expecting a new controller to improve watering performance.

Bloomfield Hills Irrigation troubleshoots existing controllers and can help determine whether repair or an upgrade makes more sense. Call or text (248) 970-0700.
